Last night, Misty and I went to Heine Brothers to meet with the local members of the organization Help-Portrait so we can find out how we can help with their upcoming event to help tornado victims in Henryville, Indiana, just up I-65 from Louisville. I come from the photographic side of things while her expertise is in photography and styling.
Kate Gregg, above, led the meeting with those of us who showed up in person and with some photographers on Skype. The story from WAVE3.com says,
Professional photographers will be at Southeast Country lake retreat in Underwood Indiana on September 8-9, 2012. They need volunteers to help take pictures, do hair and makeup, to sign people in and to help entertain kids waiting for their pictures to be taken. If you’d like to volunteer click here.
Families will get their hair and makeup done, and have a family portrait taken. They will get a DC of images, and a coupon or gift card to cover printing at least a basic 8×10 or 11×14 photo. They’ll also be able to make thank you cards to send to the first responders who helped following the tornado.
The particulars go as follows:
- What: Local photographers give free portraits to families that lost their memories in the tornadoes of 2012
- When: Saturday, September 8 from 9:30am to 9:00pm and Sunday, September 9 from 10:00am to 8:00pm
- Where: Southeast Country Lake Retreat, 815 Country Lake Road, Underwood, Indiana
- Who: Help-Portrait.com
As far as how you can help, you can make donations here. For photographers and other volunteers, to contact Kate click here. And because my camera never rests, I got some candids inside Heine Brothers like the one above. The gallery I shot comes up below.
