SKETCHBOOK: Vikings and Moms

By now you get the idea that at Valley High School, football and moms go together, which is as it should be. There are so many kids that play and it’s detached from the rest of their family life. And that’s really quite a shame because the game is so much a part of who they are through their high school years. That doesn’t seem to be a problem for the Vikings.

The kid pictured here is Christian. He’s the main reason Valley has a kicking game, which is something they’ve lacked for years. During my son’s first years at Viking Harbor, Valley always went for the two-point conversion. They had to. Nobody could kick. They always went for it on 4th down. Because nobody could kick. Christian can. And he’s good at it. That has to be one of the things that makes Karron, his mom, very proud. Well that, and the fact that she has a handsome football star in the family.
