On the morning of August 21, 2020, activist, bus driver and anti-gun violence advocate Kim Jarboe was killed in Louisville’s West End in the Shawnee neighborhood. While her vehicle was stolen, the Louisville Metro Police department are investigating as a homicide. On Monday, August 24, 2020, Christopher 2X’s Game Changers organization hosted a solemn remembrance at Union Station, the headquarters of TARC, the Transit Authority of River City.
Earlier this evening, a group of friends, co-workers and just people who wanted to honor Kim’s life gathered at TARC’s headquarters to commune together with her family. Christopher spoke briefly, but the ceremony had Kim’s mother speak as well as FBI Special Agent Robert Brown and US Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky Russell Coleman. Brown and Coleman have previously met with Kim to discuss her anti-gun violence efforts
The balloon release was led by her daughter and then the rest of the crowd. As solemn as the ceremony was, you can feel how much the participants wanted to have Kim back and continuing her work.
Visitation for Kim will be held Wednesday August 26, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son Funeral Home at 7336 Southside Drive. The funeral is the next day at 10 a.m. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at 5505 New Cut Road.
